Grandad-
Grandad went with his 4 siblings, Galien, Marylin, Joyce and Larry along with inlaws Susan, Bob and Cheryl to Martin's Cove. Susan found a cabin only 15 minutes away from the cove otherwise they would have had to stay in a hotel 60 miles away. This cabin they stayed in is owned by Tom Son. The church has been negotiating with the Sons' for 50-60 years to buy the property he owns that Martins cove was located on with no avail. About 5 years again Tom decided it was time for him to split up his land sell parts of it to the Church. Which now the church can have tours and is a popular place for Youth Treks. When the church purchased the property it sparked an interested in the 57 people who had died at Martins cove. The church did extensive research to find these people which are in unmarked graves and no record of their death and were able to get names and do all their temple work! Such an amazing thing! The story of Martins cove came from the Martins hand cart company crossing the plains in winter of 1856. They were caught in a horrible storm while traveling along the sweet water river and had to seek shelter. They crossed the river and found a cove about a mile up the way which is now known as Martins cove. The company waited out many days and the nasty wind and snow beat down on them! 57 people lost their lives in that storm. Dad says while you visit this Tragic place a sense of peace and tranquility as you look over the valley with the unmarked graves. Dad and his siblings received special treatment as being older they couldn't travel out on wagons with the missionaries so they took dads family out on 4 wheelers where they could reach certain areas that the wagons could not reach for the tour. The sense of peace being on hallowed ground was overwhelming and a sense of gratitude overcame all the siblings. They also visited the Rockyrigde site where the Willy hand cart company came before the Martin company and also got stuck in a storm. They crossed the river to this ridge where they waited for the rescue carts, but the rescue carts were stuck a half days trek away. The Willy company decided to meet the rescue team and it became a deadly decision. What was suppose to be a half days ride turned into over a full days ride reaching the rescue carts at 2 in the morning and loosing 13 members of their company. Dad truly enjoyed spending time with his sibling and feeling the love and peace as he visited these remarkable sites. But to make the trip even more eventful Gailen and Susan got a flat tire on the trip. They stayed the night in Rocksprings in hope of find a tire the next morning with no avail, they ended up driving home with a flat tire!
Lori-
Not too much to report here for the last month. I did get to hear Anita Hill speak, she is a law professor that is best known for testifying during the confirmation hearing of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. She was one of the first ever to bring attention to sexual harassment issues, especially in the workplace. She was quite inspiring. If you want to learn more about it I highly recommend the recent made for TV movie Confirmation. It tells the story quite nicely.
I also got to go to a Garth Brooks concert. This was quite a treat, as I never really get the chance to do really fun things. The concert was down in Indianapolis and was a very days after the shooting at the country concert in Vegas that was victimized by the recent mass shooting. It was on everyones mind that night and Garth wore a shirt that said "for Vegas". Despite the feeling of nervous energy due to the tragedy, he put on an awesome concert. He seems like such a cool man and he performed a few songs with Tricia Yearwood. It was neat to hear some of the songs from my childhood and the crowd had such a fun energy.
That's about it for me, other than that I write and teach and deal with migraines. :)
Fordham Family-
The Fordham's have been busy with the back to school hussle. Corbin is now in 6th grade, Luke 3rd and Reagan just started preschool. They are all loving school, especially Reagan. It's been so fun to see her get so excited about her fun days at preschool.
They boys are currently playing soccer, corbin started on a new comp team this year. There's more boys from his school and it's far less competitive then his last team (mom win!!), he's really enjoying it! Luke loves his soccer team also!! Luke just finished his first season of flag football, it took him some time to catch on to the game, but figured it out, though we still had games he looked like he was out there catching butterflies 😂
Luke turned 8 last month and was baptized. It was a great day! It's neat to see a spiritual growth in him since, he asked so many questions and seems to be more sensitive to the spirit. He also started Boy Scouts, he was totally stoked to earn his first bobcat award!!
Eli is currently in his hardest semester at Weber State University in the construction management program. He's determined to push through and finish. He has 5 classes after this semester until he graduates 🎉🎉🎉. He's a trooper to keep on going while providing for our family!! This summer he recieved a job offer from Geneva rock products as the northern region sales rep. He's loving his new job, we feel so blessed that he was able to get such a great job before graduating.
Colleen is still recovering from her plantar plate surgery that she had in July. It has been one bugger of a surgery!! But I'm continuing with hope and faith for a brighter future with less pain and to walk normal again! Getting older stinks! Luke asked me the other day if I was alive when pancakes were invented 😂 😂
Rudd Family-
School has started back up for our family and so far so good!
The Horspool Family.
The Horspool's have been busy. Gibson started Kindergarten at the end of August and is loving it and his teacher tons. He is having a hard time adjusting to schedules and getting out the door in the morning (he takes after his mama). He loves learning and playing with friends at school. But hates when mom and dad try to do homework with him at home. He was really excited today when he found out the Gingerbread Man that ran away from his class was spotted in Indiana by his Aunt Lori. She sent a fun package with sunglasses to him and his friends telling them all about it. He was elated! Gibson has also been playing soccer. They started using goalies this year. And loves to be the goalie so he can grab the ball with his hands. Gibson also recently lost his first tooth and had a visit from the tooth fairy.
Jamie has been busy working on growing a baby. She was out sick for two weeks with a nasty virus. But had her targeted ultrasound recently and it was confirmed the Horspool's will be adding a baby girl to the family in January. Jamie is still serving in primary. Teaching the CTR 4 class. They had two kids move away and four new kids move in. It is a busy class to teach for sure.
Mike has been busy working his two jobs to support that family. He recently found a new hobby. A friend introduced him to pickleball and has been really enjoying learning the rules and playing such a fun sport. Mike just got put in as an elders quorum teacher and is pretty nervous about it. He will do great. Love you all! The Horspool's.

Rudd Family-
School has started back up for our family and so far so good!
Hayden has been playing on a competitive soccer team and has been doing great. His dad took his braces off last week and now he looks like a teenager! He is doing awesome at school and loves to read. His favorite series is the "I survived' books", which chronicles events in history like the sinking of the Titanic. He keeps his mom very involved with all the cool facts and stories he reads about.
Hadley switched soccer teams this year and we are loving it. She is turning into an awesome goalie. She has also taken a great interest in gymnastics. Kylee and she are taking a class every Tuesday night. Hadley practices her hand stands all the time! But, her all time favorite thing is to play with her neighborhood girlfriends.
Kylee is involved with gymnastics and enjoys working on her art projects during her free time. We recently put up a hanger in her own bedroom to hang all her art work on instead of having her tape it to her walls. All day kindergarten has been 'okay' with Ky. She asks all the time when she can go to a 'funner' school. She is excelling and really doing well with her reading.
Jake gets a alot of one on one time with mom now and I love it! He started a neighborhood joy school with his buddies and he absolutely loves it! Last week he got to paint with pudding and learn about his 5 senses. We have been working on the letter 'J' at home and he's getting real good at recognizing it.
I'm was released from primary and called as a wolf scout leader and RS newsletter specialist last month. I miss primary so much and I'm having a hard time adjusting back into RS. I got to teach Jakes joy school the first week of school (6 little 3 year olds) and I totally loved it!
Dan had been working hard and playing hard. We took him to Phoenix for his birthday weekend and ate our lives away at all his favorite restaurants while enjoying the sun by the pool. I also took him on a date to Tucano's for his birthday a week later. I joke that when it's Dan's birthday it more like a month of Dan birthday instead of a day!! He got a new snowboard and is exited to take Hayden and Hadley on some new snowboard adventures!
